Many out-of-towners marvel that a community as small as St. George, Utah is home to a fine dining restaurant as high caliber as The Painted Pony. The restaurant’s food is fresh and imaginative, while its wait staff makes every diner feel like a VIP. Another one of its strengths is its ambience, which includes fresh flowers, southwestern décor, and tasteful art. Its diverse menu of sandwiches, salads, steaks and seafood will please practically everyone’s taste buds. The restaurant’s patio dining, soft lighting and extensive wine list help make it one of the most romantic dining experiences in southern Utah.
The Painted Pony is located at the corner of Main Street and St. George Boulevard in Ancestor Square, one of St. George, Utah’s most quaint shopping centers. Boasting a small stream, a shaded plaza, a common courtyard, and the Old Jail House, Ancestor Square provides a charming atmosphere. The shopping center is home to unique shops, galleries and restaurants. Less than a block away from Ancestor Square is the Brigham Young Winter Home, one of southern Utah’s best remaining examples of pioneer architecture.
In addition to being an excellent restaurant for a night out on the town in southwestern Utah, the Painted Pony is an ideal venue for private functions such as business luncheons and wedding dinners. With enough space to accommodate up to 24 guests, the restaurant’s garden room makes a charming, intimate location for any special occasion. The Painted Pony also hosts some events of its own. Providing local musicians a place to perform, the restaurant occasionally holds a live jazz night. It also features special “tasting menus” of items not found in its regular repertoire on Valentine’s Day and New Year’s Day.
